This is a symbol flag for "Eastern Jikäny Latjor Sobat Region. The follow­ing are the definitions of the Eastern Jikäny Nuer, state flag. It was pro­posed to be deign and to continue as reminder about our history and cultural values that our forefathers had been fighting long time a go. The Flag would enter into our presence and will move and made each of us feel that we are belong to something good regarding our history as well as our identi­ties.

The first flag of the eastern Nuer, is to be adopted and be horizontal stripes of Red White, Blue, White, Yellow, Green and Black. These colors, will symbolizing the four historical facts of GaatGanKiir sections in the eastern parts of the Nile.

As an example, the Eastern Official Bird, the Blue Heron is being proposed for the first time in the Jikäny history, for this and the next generations to see it on as an our independent future flag flaying horizontal in all the Sobat Latjor Countries (Dis­tricts). Both Sudan and the Ethiopian sides a like, so that it is same symbol to sym­bolize all the Kiir sons and daughters.

1.Red Color:

a. Red Color, will be above the flag. Its to symbolize the name Jikäny, meaning (Ji-käny Cääng).The rising sun people. This is where our name Jikäny had been derive from. Later on, Kiir was found floating on the confluence of Bahr el Jebel and Bahr el Gazelle a round the Lake No. After that he has been repeatedly wondering around in the bush where he had endured some hardship in his life time.

b. Red, is also to stands for both Western Jikäny.(Jikäny Cieng) and Eastern Jikäny (Jikäny Dr) Doar.

c. In addition, red color may represented the martyrs who lost their life on their way during the Jikäny immigrations journey as well as after the occupation of the east, then the red color, is to Officially be place above or at the top of the Jikäny flag.

2. White color:

a. White color, is to stands for peace between to the native of the land and the Jikäny who became united and make up one community of the east, where there are no sections being forgotten up to this period. The land accommodates all of them a like.

b. Both of the White ,colors be found in the middle of each side of the flag, are to repre­sent peace that was made, first with the local residents of the Shilluk King as well as Padang and Anyuak community of the present lands, under leadership of Latjor Duach.

3.The Blue color:

a. The Blue color, symbolize both the Nile waters where Jikäny had crossed and the Sobat waters which is being formed at it confluence of its two main head streams the Baro and Pibor on the Ethiopia boarder, southeast of Nasir town as waters meeting points.

b. Not only the two rivers mentioned a above, also its includes others head streams such as Gilo, Akobo Adura and all the Khors, such as Jekou, Machar Wakou and Nyading. Plus unmentioned ones Which flown from the Ethio­pia mountains down to the lowland of the South.

c. Waters here represented the primary natural resources of the east land, be­cause waters supplied us to have fertile soil all over the eastern Nuer for a good agriculture lands where as waters believed to divide the region into four direc­tions North, South, West and East.

4. Yellow color:

a. Yellow color, represented the landscape of the swamp vegetation such as tall grasses. Its also stands for the rich, savanna land where we found all kinds of wild life as well as the vast areas of grassy lands in all over the eastern Nuer.

5. Green color:

a. The Green, symbolize a good fertile lands, suitable for Agriculture such as Machar swamps as an examples agricultural lands, brought the Jikäny cropping food plains in the Sobat river zones to became rich. The fertile lands allows to grow enough sorghum, millet and maize as the food source even in all types of millets, durra and sorghums are available for all the uses. In the greenbelt zone are the winter months of the Second season harvest of maize's beans, tobaccos, all un­named ones are grows. Green color is to stand for agriculture. Green is placed as small at the tails of the Jikäny unify flag.

6. Black color:

a. This black color, represented the land and its people as one of the culturally diverse then the rest of the southern districts. its also be found at the tail of the flag.

7. Blue Heron:

a. This is the most key symbol for Eastern Jikäny Latjor Sobat Region, will be first appeared to this unify flag. We will see Blue Heron, Ngöök Ngöök, which it nick name (Bany-Yiël Peet), is a remainder to all Jikäny Dzr, or Doar that Blue heron is to remain as our Official Bird. It was this bird that rescued the Jikäny exodus at Waath Ngöök.

b. Blue heron was a guiding signed of the Jikäny migration at that time which had helped to shows the waters is too Shallow for them to crossed the Nile. This bird is to be placed in the middle of the flag where the waters appeared. The big bird standing in the middle of the river waters and looking at the east wards directions where the morning sunrise appeared at Waath Ngöök. Known as Terekeka, ten mails away from Melute. This blue heron is that bird to showed our ancestors the ways to cross the rivers.

8. Koat Liic:

This is, "The tree where man was born," This tree represent the claimed made by all the Nuer people that this is where man was born. Look at the picture, you will also see, here the glimpse of the earth's morning sun in the Liic land areas. The tree will felt us with the sense of origins of the Nuer myths on our ancient landscape. This is to make us memories the original home land where all the Nuer originated under it except Kiir. Koat Liic is here as a sign of memorizing the Nuer history.

9. The Twins Sister Girls:

a. These little twin girls, represent the Latjor last day of offering as a sacrifice to Buk, the god of the water on February (Pet) in the 1819. The offering of the twins helped Latjor and his people to see the big birds land down in the early morning into the waters of the Nile.

b. As a result, it became as a guiding signed immediately followed the twins officering in to the waters. When this bird land down in the middle of the river, it kept walking side by side to shown the Jikäny that the river was too shallowed for them to crossed. The twins stand as symbol for Jikäny the last sacrifices at Waath Ngok of the Jikäny migration to the east.
